Press release Location Hangzhou

Hangzhou, a city rich in ancient poetry, has witnessed the rise and fall of countless buildings.

From the serene West Lake to the powerful Qiantang River, its architecture always coexists

harmoniously with nature.

Shangcheng, the central district of Hangzhou, is situated along the banks of the Qiantang

River and West Lake, with the Grand Canal running north-south through the area. Rich in

history, it has always been the heart of the city, serving as a vital center for the Southern Song,

Wuyue, and Qiantang River cultures. It is also home to the ruins of the Southern Song Imperial

Palace.

“River Moon,” is the first project in this series. It stands by the Qiantang River and redefines

luxury living with nature. It creates a community where people, the city, and nature thrive

together, telling Hangzhou’s story of “Riverfront Residences.”

UAP created “Moon Guides the Tide” as its narrative for this project. We commissioned

renowned British ceramic artist Matt Sherratt to create two custom artworks. These pieces

serve as a homecoming ritual, resembling the way tides return to the shore, guided by

moonlight. UAP also designed several installations along the riverbank that respond to the

moon’s pull and tidal rhythm, echoing this poetic life.

Matt Sherratt is a renowned British artist who creates fluid, meditative sculptures that invite

reflection. His works balance surface tension and interior space, creating dynamic interactions.

He masterfully combines reflective and matte finishes for visual impact.
